Academic Integrity at Help Me Bro
Why this page exists
Help Me Bro is run by one person, Ahsan Irfan, who is the founder and sole editor. I wrote this page so you know exactly what I do, what I refuse, and what I expect from you before you send me anything. If you are ever unsure whether a request is acceptable, ask me through the quote form and I will tell you plainly.
The short version: your work stays yours. I respond to what you wrote. I do not produce it.
What I do
My help takes three forms, and each one starts from something you created.
- Comments and tracked changes on work you wrote. I use Word track changes and margin comments to point out problems and suggest fixes. You decide what to accept, adapt, or ignore, and you make every change yourself. You remain the author throughout. The academic editing pages describe the kinds of documents this covers, including dissertations, theses, and journal manuscripts.
- Coaching sessions. These are live conversations where we talk through your own plan, argument, or draft. The research coaching section lists the topics, such as proposals and defense preparation.
- Feedback on resumes and application essays. I react to the draft you bring, whether it is a resume or a personal statement, and tell you what is working and what is not.
What I will not do
These are firm limits. No deadline, fee, or explanation changes them.
- Write, rewrite, or draft any part of an assignment, thesis, essay, application, or grant.
- Take exams or complete coursework on your behalf.
- Run analyses or produce results for you to submit.
- Alter data in any way.
- Help work evade AI detection or plagiarism detection.
- Edit work where the governing rules forbid outside editing.
I also do not take papers in engineering or medical and health sciences. I say so honestly at the quote stage instead of accepting work I am not suited to review.
Your responsibility
Rules about outside help differ widely. One university may allow a professional to mark up a dissertation, while a department, a course, or a journal may restrict it. Scholarship and fellowship programs often have their own conditions too.
Before you send me a document, please check what your institution or program permits. If it requires you to disclose that you received editing or coaching, you are the one who must do that. I cannot read your handbook for you, and I cannot decide on your behalf what is allowed. If the rules say no outside editing, the right move is not to send the work to me.
Not sure where to look? Your program handbook, your graduate school’s thesis office, or your instructor are the usual places to ask. Our levels of editing guide may also help you describe the kind of help you want when you ask them.
Statistics: explain and review, not perform
Quantitative sections raise the most questions, so here is the line. I can explain a method you chose, talk through what your output means, and review an analysis you ran to see whether the reasoning and the write-up hold together. I cannot run the analysis, generate the tables, or produce results for you. The numbers must come from you. If you want support in this area, see statistics consulting.
When a request crosses the line
Sometimes a request includes something I cannot do. When that happens, I decline that part and explain why. I do not quietly do a watered-down version, and I do not pretend the request was fine. Where the rest of the request is acceptable, I will say what I can still do.
You will not be caught off guard. I will tell you before any work starts, so you know what is in scope and what is not.
Will you write or fix sentences for me?
No. I mark problems with comments and tracked changes and sometimes suggest wording as a possible direction, but you make every change in your own words. I never write, rewrite, ghost-write, or draft content for clients. The document stays yours from the first draft to the final one you submit.
Can you help my paper get past an AI or plagiarism checker?
No. I do not help anyone evade AI detection or plagiarism detection, and I will not advise on how to do it. If a checker flags something in your writing, I am happy to talk through why it might have happened, but the writing itself must be your own.
What if my school does not allow outside editing?
Then please do not send me the work. I will not edit anything where the rules forbid outside editing. Check your institution’s or program’s policy first, and if it requires you to disclose help, you are responsible for doing that. If you are unsure, ask your program before contacting me.
Can you run my statistics or fix my results?
No. I do not perform analyses, produce results for submission, or alter data. What I can do is explain a method, help you understand your own output, and review an analysis you completed so the reasoning and write-up line up. The work and the numbers stay with you.
What happens if I ask for something you cannot do?
I decline that part and explain my reason. If the rest of your request is fine, I tell you what I can still help with. Nothing begins until you know the scope, because I will tell you before any work starts.
