About Help Me Bro
One person, reading your whole document
Help Me Bro is not an agency with a bench of editors behind a form. It is Ahsan Irfan, who founded the service and does every edit himself. When you send a dissertation chapter, a journal manuscript, a personal statement or a resume, the same person opens the file, reads it from the first page to the last, and writes back.
This page explains what that means for you: what the work covers, who it suits, and the rules I will not bend.
What I do
The service is built around helping you improve writing you have already drafted. In practice that means five kinds of work:
- Academic editing for essays, theses and dissertations, including dissertation editing and thesis editing, plus formatting support.
- Research coaching for people who want to talk through a project, a method or a stuck chapter. See research coaching.
- Admissions editing for application essays and statements. See admissions.
- Publication support for manuscripts headed to journals. See publication support.
- Resume feedback that tightens how your experience reads. See resume feedback.
Most clients are students, graduate students, researchers and applicants based in the United States. Work comes from every field except two: engineering and medical or health sciences. Those I decline, and I say so plainly when you ask for a quote, so you can look elsewhere without losing time.
The ground rules
These are the commitments the whole service rests on.
- You are the author. I leave comments in the margin and suggest changes with Word track changes. Nothing is applied for you. You decide what to accept, adapt or ignore.
- No ghost-writing. I do not write, rewrite or draft content for clients, and I do not hand back paragraphs to paste in. If a passage is weak, I tell you why and point you toward a fix. The sentences stay yours.
- No tricks with detectors. I will not help anyone get past AI-detection or plagiarism software. That is not what editing is for.
- Honest scope. If your paper falls outside what I can edit well, you hear it before any money changes hands.
- Prices you can see. The rates are public on the pricing page, and a quote is based on your word count, deadline and file.
Why a single editor works in your favor
Large editing services split a long document into pieces and hand the pieces around. It is efficient for them. For you it can mean one reader fixing a term in chapter two while another reader flags the same term in chapter five.
The whole document, one pair of eyes
When one person reads everything, patterns show up. A claim made in the introduction gets checked against the conclusion. A citation style that drifts halfway through gets caught. A habit, such as burying your main point at the end of every paragraph, gets named once, clearly, rather than flagged in slightly different words by different readers.
Comments that agree with each other
Because the same editor wrote every note, the advice does not contradict itself. If I ask you to define a term early, I will not later suggest cutting the definition.
A direct line
You write to the person who edited your work, not to a support queue. If a comment is unclear, ask me and I will explain it. There is no relay and no guessing at what someone else meant.
A few words on credentials
My academic training is an MS in Finance from the University of the Punjab. The full bio lives on its own page.
Who this is for, and who it is not for
Help Me Bro suits you if you have a draft, you want a sharp second reader, and you intend to do the revising yourself. It suits you if you want to learn from the notes, not just receive a cleaner file.
It does not suit you if you want someone to produce the text for you, or if your paper is in engineering or the medical and health sciences. I would rather say that now than waste your deadline.
Is Help Me Bro a company with a team of editors?
No. Help Me Bro is run by one person, Ahsan Irfan, who is the founder and the only editor. Every document is read and commented on by him. There are no other editors, reviewers or specialists behind the scenes, so the person you write to is the person who edits your work.
Will you write or rewrite parts of my paper?
No. I give comments and tracked-change suggestions, and you make every edit yourself. I do not draft, rewrite or ghost-write content for clients. The writing stays yours from start to finish, which is why you remain the author of the final document.
Which subjects do you not edit?
I work with papers in every field except engineering and medical or health sciences. If you send a request in one of those areas, I will tell you at the quote stage that I cannot take it, so you can find a better fit quickly and without paying for anything.
Why would I pick one editor over a larger service?
One person reading your entire document means consistent advice, fewer contradictory comments and a better sense of how your argument holds together from beginning to end. You also contact the same person who did the editing, so questions about a comment get a direct answer.
How much does editing cost?
Editing is priced by word count and how fast you need it back: 24-hour turnaround costs $25 per 1,000 words, 48-hour costs $15, and 72-hour costs $10. Live sessions are quoted once we agree on what you need. Send your file and deadline through the quote page to get a firm figure.
How to get started
If you are unsure which kind of help you need, the levels of editing guide is a good first read, and how it works walks through the process. When you are ready, send your details through get a quote and I will reply personally.
