Ahsan Irfan: Founder and Editor of Help Me Bro

Who is behind Help Me Bro

Help Me Bro is one person. I am Ahsan Irfan, and I started the service and do every edit myself. When you send a draft, I am the one who reads it. No one else sees your file, and no one else writes the comments you get back.

This page explains what that means in practice: my background, how my comments read, which papers I take on, and which ones I turn down.

Ahsan Irfan, founder and editor of Help Me Bro

Education

I hold an MS in Finance from the University of the Punjab. I am not a PhD, and I do not present myself as a subject examiner. I work as an editor. My job is to read your draft the way a careful, skeptical reader would and tell you where that reader gets lost.

That distinction matters for what you can expect. I can tell you that a claim is unsupported, that a paragraph does not follow from the one before it, or that your citations disagree with each other. I cannot certify that your findings are correct within your discipline, and I will not pretend to.

How I edit

I give comments and tracked changes, and nothing else. In Word, that means margin comments and Track Changes you can accept, reject or ignore one by one. You make every change. The paper stays yours from the first sentence to the last.

A typical comment from me looks like one of these:

  • An unclear claim. Instead of rewriting the sentence, I ask a question in the margin: “Do you mean the effect appeared in all three samples, or only the first?” You answer it in your own words.
  • A citation inconsistency. I mark where one reference lists a publication year that differs from the in-text citation, or where the same source appears in two different formats.
  • A jump in the argument. I note the spot where a conclusion arrives before the evidence for it, and point to the gap so you can decide how to bridge it.
  • A wording snag. I flag a sentence that can be read two ways and show you the ambiguity, without choosing the meaning for you.

I do not write, rewrite, ghost-write or draft content for clients. I also do not help text evade AI or plagiarism detectors. If a request needs any of that, I will say no.

If you want to see how different depths of review compare, the guide on levels of editing lays them out. For the full process from file to finished comments, see how it works.

What I work on

I take papers in every field except engineering and medical or health sciences. In practice, most of what arrives falls into a few groups:

If you are weighing whether an editor is the right fit for a long project, the guide on how to choose a dissertation editor is a fair place to check your questions against.

What I decline

Engineering papers and medical or health-science papers are outside what I take on. I would rather tell you that at the quote stage than accept the file and give you comments I cannot stand behind.

I also decline anything that asks me to produce the work itself: drafting sections, rewriting passages, ghost-writing, or reshaping text so it slips past a detector. Those requests are a different service from the one I offer, and I do not offer it.

Is Ahsan Irfan a PhD or a subject expert in my field?

No. Ahsan holds an MS in Finance and does not have a PhD. He edits as an editor, not as a subject examiner. He can point out unclear claims, weak transitions and citation problems, but he cannot confirm that your findings are correct within your discipline.

Will Ahsan rewrite sentences or sections of my paper?

No. He leaves comments and tracked changes only. A comment might ask what you meant or point to a gap in your reasoning, but you decide what to change and write the fix yourself. He never drafts, rewrites or ghost-writes content, so the paper stays yours.

What does a comment from Ahsan actually look like?

Often it is a question. If a claim is unclear, he asks what you mean rather than supplying wording. He also marks where citations contradict each other and where an argument jumps ahead of its evidence. Each note points to the spot so you can fix it.

Which kinds of papers does Ahsan turn down?

He does not take engineering papers or medical and health-science papers, and he says so at the quote stage. He also declines any request to write or rework content for you, or to help text avoid AI or plagiarism detection.

Can I book a live session with Ahsan instead of sending a file?

Yes. Live sessions run by call, and Ahsan quotes them after you and he agree on what the session will cover. There is no set hourly rate. Send your details through the quote form and describe what you would like to talk through.

How to work with me

Start with the quote form. Send the word count, your deadline and the file, and I will reply with scope and price.

Editing is priced by turnaround: $25 per 1,000 words for 24 hours, $15 for 48 hours, and $10 for 72 hours. The pricing page has the details.

If you would rather talk a draft through, I also run live sessions by call. I quote those once we have agreed what the session will cover, so there is no fixed hourly figure to look up.
